ABOUT
Nestling in the low hills of the beautiful Tyne Valley and enjoying ¼ mile of the River South Tyne, Orchard Barn affords guests a holiday of escapism on the one hand and pure indulgence on the other. Accommodating 2 guests in an open plan living space with a king size bed or accommodating 9 guests when booked with the lodge, they are both furnished and equipped to a 5 star luxury standard.
Originally built in the late 1890's by Lord Joicey, a prominent coalmine owner and later politician, both the lodge and barn have been recently extended and completely refurbished to a very high standard. Situated close to the geographical centre of the U.K., Brokenheugh lies 1.3 miles east of our nearest village, Haydon Bridge, and 7 miles west of Hexham - a busy market town built around the historic 7th century Abbey Church.
The famous roman forts on the Hadrian wall path of vindolanda and houseteads are a mere 10 minutes drive and, nearby, to the south, is the boundary of the North Pennines upland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This designated AONB spills over into County Durham, home to the World Heritage Site of Durham Cathedral and Castle, only an hour's drive from our estate. As per all our properties, the spectacular Northumbrian coastline and the gateway to the lake district are only 1hr away, meaning the barn is a perfect base for exploring this beautiful part of the UK.
